Keep the next thing
in view.

Chyron Do scrolls upcoming tasks across the top or bottom of your screen. Reminders fade in gently, become more noticeable as they approach, and stay visible until you act.

Open the task window

Click the Chyron Do icon in the menu bar. Click it again to hide the window.

Type a reminder

Enter the task text you want to see in the scrolling chyron.

Choose when it is due

Use the day, hour and minute wheels—or select an exact time and date.

Add the task

Select Add task. It will appear in Saved tasks and Next up.

Everyday reminders

Add and manage tasks

Set a due time from now

The three wheels work together. Choose a day, then set the total hours and minutes from now. You can also type numbers while an hour or minute wheel is selected.

Tip

Choose tomorrow and leave the time unchanged to schedule the task for about the same time tomorrow.

Set an exact time and date

Use the time field and date field below the wheels. Select the calendar button for a larger date picker.

Act on the next task

When the main window opens, the earliest task is selected. Use 5-minute snooze to delay it, or Cancel task to remove that occurrence.

A schedule that keeps going

Repeating tasks

Create a series

  1. Select Set repeating task.
  2. Choose New and enter the task text.
  3. Set the next due time, due date and repeat rule.
  4. Select Save.

Change an existing series

Repeating tasks appear with (R) in the task list. Double-click one to open that series for editing.

You can pause a series, skip only its next occurrence, or delete the entire series. Canceling one occurrence leaves later repeats scheduled.

Recurring breaks and sun alerts

Recurring breaks

Select Recurring breaks, turn on the reminder and choose an interval from 10 minutes to 4 hours. Set a starting time and change “Take a break” to any wording you prefer.

A break reminder dismisses itself after five minutes. Canceling the next break skips just that occurrence; the schedule continues.

Sunrise and sunset

Turn on Sunrise alert or Sunset alert in the same page. Chyron Do begins the reminder five minutes before the event and dismisses it five minutes after.

macOS may ask for location access. Your location is used on your Mac to estimate the times and is not sent to a weather service.

Set font size, chyron depth, text casing, background color and text color. Turn on Show chyron at bottom of screen if you prefer it there.

Behavior

Choose when fading and flashing begin, change text speed, decide when overdue tasks are removed, and optionally launch at login.

Sound

Choose a different sound for opening the app, clicks, fade-in, flashing, due tasks, created tasks, completed tasks and sun alerts. Adjust the shared volume or restore the original choices.

Custom sounds

Choose Custom… in any sound menu and select an audio file from your Mac. Chyron Do keeps a local copy for that alert.

Use Chyron Do without reaching for the menu bar

Key commands

Open Settings → Key commands. Click a shortcut button, then press Command or Control with another key. Shortcuts work anywhere on your Mac while Chyron Do is running.

Show or hide the task window

Opens Main, or hides it when it is already visible.

Cancel task

Cancels the selected task, or dismisses currently due tasks while Main is closed.

Snoozes the selected task, or the earliest due or upcoming reminder.

Troubleshooting

A reminder is not on the screen yet

The chyron appears only when a task enters the fade-in period set in Settings. Tasks due more than 24 hours away may be saved without appearing in Next up or on the chyron yet.

I do not hear a sound

Check the sound chosen for that event and the Volume slider in Settings. Chyron Do stays silent while the Mac or its displays are asleep; current reminders resume after the display wakes.

A custom sound no longer plays

Open Settings and choose the custom sound again. Confirm the file is a supported audio type and plays normally in another Mac app.

Sunrise or sunset times are unavailable

Turn on a sun alert, then allow Chyron Do in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services. Ordinary tasks and break reminders do not need location access.

How do I close a page or dialog?

Press Escape to return to the previous page or close the current dialog. Select Quit only when you want reminders to stop completely.

Privacy and support

Saved locally on your Mac

Chyron Do does not require an account or cloud service. Task text, schedules, settings and imported custom sounds stay in the app’s local storage on your Mac. The app has no advertising, tracking or third-party analytics.
